SCG studio design

Each piece is the result of a dialogue between material and maker, between personal narrative and universal resonance. Every object transcends its primary function to make you live a sculptural time.

Papyrus celebrates nonchalance as a poetic gesture. Diogenes, the library-chair, offers a protective sanctuary that invites creative thought. Miswane, the “anti-chair,” questions the supposed universality of the seated posture, inviting a more offbeat, reflective perspective.

Her work draws from a rich tapestry of influences, blending the artisanal simplicity of mingei, the industrial rigor of Bauhaus, and traditional arts. SCG continues to explore how spaces shape our perception of time, navigating the frontier between design, craftsmanship and contemporary art.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Since 2012, SCG has been developing a pragmatic approach to eco-design furniture that poetically responds to new semi-nomadic and urban lifestyles.

Her modular, sometimes customizable creations become the setting for a sensory experience. For her, living spaces are canvases for self-expression—places to inhabit and constantly reinvent.

SCG grounds her practice in a holistic approach: ontological design, which reflects a plural identity where the freedom to experiment is fueled by occasionally paradoxical convictions. This creative tension is at the very heart of self-publishing, realized through a hybrid production process that bridges heritage and modernity, contrasts innovative composite woods with handcrafted textiles, and combines cutting-edge digital technologies with exceptional craftsmanship.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1982 and trained in architecture (France) and interior design (Morocco), Sophia Chraïbi Giorgi has devoted her career to furniture creation. Over time, this medium has evolved into a language of its own within her practice as an interior designer. She collaborates with master artisans to produce bespoke solid wood pieces, conceived as natural extensions of the spaces she designs.

In 2012, she began exploring pragmatic eco-design in furniture,  a concept attuned to evolve a semi-nomadic way of life.

Much like the architecture of a city embodies its history and reveals its future aspirations, the interior of a home—its collection of objects and artworks—is, for SCG, a mirror of the values of those who inhabit it.

Viewing the home as a canvas for identity, her approach is shaped by context, spatial appropriation, and the potential for continual reinvention. Her modular and customizable furniture becomes a tool for personal emancipation.

Her work draws on a body of influences that are both paradoxical and complementary, ranging from the mingei movement, which values simplicity and the artisan’s gesture, to the industrial rationality of the Bauhaus, as well as ancient arts and the conceptual inquiries of architecture and contemporary art.

Since 2015, her creations have been featured in international exhibitions dedicated to design and contemporary art. Her work is set in a singular universe at the crossroads of craftsmanship, innovation, and artistic expression. Each piece becomes an immersive interface between our inner world and the environment around.
